Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 5, 2026

This policy describes what information Miser Tools collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you. It is written in plain language rather than dense legal terminology, and it describes what this site actually does today — not features that don't yet exist.

Information you may provide to us

If you create an account (when account creation is available), we collect the information needed to maintain that account, such as an email address. If you subscribe to a paid plan (when paid plans are available), payment is processed by our payment provider, Stripe — we do not receive or store your full card number.

Decision inputs you enter into our tools

Our tools ask you to enter information relevant to the decision you're comparing — for example, a vehicle price, a salary figure, a debt balance, or a custom criterion you define yourself. This information is used to calculate your result and, if you save a decision, to generate and store that decision's report. This decision-input data is never included in the analytics information described below.

Technical, device, and usage information

Like most websites, we automatically receive certain technical information when you visit — such as the pages you view, the approximate time of your visit, your browser and device type, and similar usage details. We also set a first-party session cookie to keep track of your session and to apply rate limits fairly.

Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use this site. GA4 may collect information such as the pages you view, an approximate location derived from your IP address, your device and browser information, and how you interact with the site (including Google's own "Enhanced Measurement" features, such as scroll depth and outbound link clicks). This information is not anonymous — Google Analytics is capable of identifying a returning visitor and building a profile of their activity on this site over time, even though we do not ourselves attempt to identify you personally from it. We do not currently send Miser Tools decision-input data (the financial or personal figures you enter into a tool) to Google Analytics, and we have not configured any custom analytics events beyond GA4's standard collection. You can learn more about how Google uses this data, and your choices regarding it, at Google's own privacy policy and Ads Settings pages.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a first-party session cookie for core site functionality (keeping track of your session and applying fair usage limits). If you sign in (when account sign-in is available), an authentication cookie is set by our authentication provider. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to distinguish visitors and sessions, as described above.

How we use information

We use the information described above to operate and improve the site, calculate and display your decision results, maintain your account and subscription if applicable, understand overall usage patterns through analytics, and comply with legal obligations.

Service providers

We work with third-party service providers to operate this site, including hosting and infrastructure (Vercel), our database provider, Google (for Analytics), and — when those features are live — Clerk (for authentication) and Stripe (for payment processing). Each provider processes information only as needed to provide their respective service to us.

Data retention

We retain account and decision data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the service to you, and for a reasonable period afterward for legitimate business or legal purposes. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see "Your choices" below).

Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

If account features are enabled for your use of the site, you can request deletion of your account and associated data through your account settings. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using Google's browser add-on or similar tools.

Children's privacy

Miser Tools is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

U.S.-focused operation

Miser Tools is operated with a primary focus on users in the United States, and its calculations and content (for example, tax and currency assumptions) are generally oriented toward U.S. use cases.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
